Kent Island (1967)
MCL joined with Audubon Canyon Ranch and The Nature Conservancy
to preserve Bolinas Lagoon as a wildlife refuge by purchasing Kent
Island and tidelands for $85,000. The lands were donated to the
County as a county park, thereby eliminating the Bolinas Harbor
District’s threat of developing the lagoon.
MCL continues to work on preserving important natural features
of Marin. Projects have included the San Rafael Shoreline, Corte
Madera marshes, Bahia, Rush Creek in Novato, Bel Marin Keys and
other creeks, wetlands and ridges.
